Hostel Review: Miss Sophie's Hostel

I knew Prague would be a relatively cheap country. There were hostels that cost for only EUR €15-18/ night! Hostels in the Old Town cost around € 23-25 for a standard dorm bed. I went with the highest-rated review in Tripadvisor: Miss Sophie’s.

We availed of the shuttle service recommended by Miss Sophies. The ride cost us CZK 550 for the both of us. Pricier than using an efficient public transportation system. But coming in a foreign country after a 21-hour flight, I can use some convenience. I have a travel buddy anyway.

We left our luggage while we waited for our rooms to be ready. You have to use your own lock.

They have a bathroom you can use if you wanna freshen up. After 23 hours, yes please!

Miss Sophies is not located in the Old Town area, it is located in Melanouva 3. No worries, the efficient transportation system and the 72-hour pass will let you roam around without any hassle.

Beerlicious!

Miss Sophies is the most elegant and swanky dorm I’ve stayed. Didn’t feel like a dorm at all! It felt like an apartment! We stayed in their ensuite dorm rooms and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. The rooms are extremely spacious and well maintained. For EUR 22/night, this is a steal!

Swankified!

Each dormer has a separate hanger, night light, huge locker (bring your own locks) and socket.

Their kitchen is well equipped with utensils - even with fridge, a knife and frying pans. A really good find, for a really good price.

The staff was very helpful and patient in giving us directions and recommendations. The location is not central, but it is a tram or metro ride away from the Old Town. It is quite easy to get to and from the place. Probably one minor inconvenience is the location of the reception. You have to cross the street (to the light green building in the pic) to check-in/check-out and ask questions.

I suggest that they should have a full shower curtain, and a soap dish in the shower stall where you can place your things.

The upside of staying in this side of town is that food options are much cheaper. The price of the dishes are CZK 100-150 less than what you can get from the restaurants at the Old Town area. The hostel is near this great restaurant Pivovarsky Dum which serves great Czech beer.
