The Posh-ness of Incheon International Airport

When booking your flights going to South Korea, remember that Incheon (ICH) is the airport closest to Seoul. Cebupacific (5J) has two hubs for SK – Busan and Incheon. Busan is in the southern part of SK. Although you can travel to Seoul from Busan, I believe that Busan warrants a separate trip. For this trip, it is all about Seoul.

Incheon International Airport was the world’s number 1 airport in 2012.  Quiet a feat. Upon landing, I was reminded of Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. Clean. Spacious. Posh.


Long elevators. Reminds me of those in Shangrilla Mall.

If you want to get a tax refund for the items that your purchased, you have to drop off your check-in baggage in this lane after checking-in. For items in your carry-on bag, no need to queue here. Grab a map of the airport to locate this line.

They have this train called the “Concourse” that runs from the main airport to the “take-off” place.



 

We were early so we had time to roam around and marvel at the chic-ness of the place. The duty free shops also carry Longchamp items. If you are eyeing a piece like Le Pliage, it is worth a look – I didn’t really look at the price since I alreadybought some in Paris. Lotte Items are also sold at almost the same price in the groceries so you can do some last minute pasalubong shopping. I wish I bought more green Lotte Peppero Almond. I ended up eating a lot those intended for pasalubong. I’ll buy more next time.

I wandered around the airport in search of the tourist shirts with South Korea printed on it. I didn’t find any in Myeondong. I found them in souvenir shops which cost me an arm and leg  at $25 a piece. Pricey but I still bought them for my parents. They have good quality and the design was not so generic.

For dinner, I opted for more familiar dishes. Not really craving for Korean dishes.

Fries. Potato wedges. Forever food staple.

Samsung and LG TVs are placed in the waiting areas.

The United Kingdom (UK) may be in Europe but it is not included in the Schengen zone. You need to apply for a separate visa in the UK. I’ve always wanted to see London (because of Mary Poppins) but I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of applying and paying for another visa aside from Schengen. Blaaaaah-ging

I established this blog as a "shrine" for my adventures.  I've have travelled, since my last update - I took time to at least update my Adventure Accounts page. It's just...more difficult to really give trip details. Each blog post takes me approximately 4 hours to write, select and watermark photos, and recheck my excel file & trip notes. So two long and detailed blog posts equal to one working day. In the last couple of years, the rise of microblogging just made it easier to just skip a blogpost; because hey, there's your audience in FB or IG. I don't like to admit this, but there's a sense of "instant validation" when others do like your travel update post vs. waiting for someone to give a nice comment in your blog post (that took hours to write).  In between my March 2017 post and today, I've been busy being a postgraduate student in the UK (thru the Chevening scholarship), then I've travelled for 90 days to cover 11 count

Schengen Visa Application via French Embassy in the Philippines

I am not a Schengen visa expert. I cannot assess your chance of getting a visa. I am only sharing what happened in my experience. Less than a year after my Europe III trip (which I haven’t blogged about), I found myself applying for my 4th Schengen visa. This was for our two-week family vacation in Europe in Italy, France and UK. Since we were staying at France the longest, we lodged our Schengen visa application with the French embassy. This time, we applied via the French Embassy . VFS Global handles the visa applications for the French embassy. I hope that before you found this blog, you already read the very informative website of VFS France in the Philippine s.
