What to Wear in Sagada’s Cave Connection Adventure

I poured time and effort in researching the proper spelunking/caving attire. I browsed forums. I read blog posts and studied what they wore. Seriously. Wa-poise galore yata ito, so kelangan bumawi sa outfit.

I found this post in SAGGAS’ website the most helpful. They maintain a pretty neat website as well. Go check it out.

Cave Connection Outfit:

Leggings – light. Dries easily. Protects your legs from being scratched. Pants will weigh you down. You need to feel and be light. AND, it shows your wonderful silhouette in the photos.

Shorts - Wear something made of light fabric. You will be using your butt to get through alive. Now we don’t want those leggings ripped in the middle of the adventure and then show the world everything.

Shirt – Choose a dark-colored shirt. Expect it to get completely wet.

Headlamp – bought mine in Ace Hardware for Php 200.00.

Slippers – there will be times when you will be asked to remove them. I suggest bringing plain slip-ons (no straps) so you can remove them easily. My plain flipflops survived.

Wear your swimsuit underneath.

Have your hair in a ponytail.

Your guides are GUIDES. They are not yayas of your stuff – except maybe your camera. Carry what you can carry through. I initially planned on carrying a small backpack with water but I changed my mind at the last minute. I just brought my very precious camera.

Lastly, don’t forget to put that genuine smile in your face. You’re never fully dressed without a smile!
